Sketch of Fort by Keith Marsh SJSA 2005

When you read children’s stories for boys, often there will be descriptions of adventures of building and playing in forts. These grand adventures certainly happened at the St. John’s schools. You just had to wonder through the bush trails on the property and you would stumble about a fort in the trees. Many hours of work were put into creating these monuments to childhood. Many a staff member cursed the tools that would mysteriously disappear – only to find them while out on a summer walk through the woods. There are still some surviving forts on the property at Genesee.
