A “St. John’s Artifact” found on the Mirror Methye canoe trip in 2003

After traveling the number of waterways and trials throughout Canada on canoe trips, hiking trips and dog runs, there are no doubt many St. John’s “artifacts” left for future travelers to discover.

A tradition on the Methye Portage trip, had the group leave a note in the bottle used for the Homme du Nord, for others to find. We have heard from some who did. On other trips, we have found some of our own artifacts that students inadvertently left behind.

What are your memories of the St. John’s artifacts found many years after one of our groups has passed through the area? Send us your story. (Click on the title and scroll to the bottom to submit your story. Click on the photo to see a larger version)
