Most St. John’s canoe trips involved portaging. Some of these were trips  planned for the portage – the Grand Portage trips, out of the Manitoba school, and the Methye Portage trips, out of the Alberta school.

This gallery shows pictures of the Gr. 9’s on Methye Portage in 1966 – a Manitoba school trip, the portage route will be familiar to most. As well as  a portage on the 1968 Moosonee River trip (Northern Ontario) – the Gr. 10’s portaging along the Blanche River, most won’t be familiar with the Blanche River.

Is interesting to see the change in the gear over just a 2 year period.
