Rod Voss and Emma Croft-Opperman have organised a memorial service to commemorate the 13 lives lost in the Temiskaming Tragedy. June 11, 2013 will be the 35th anniversary. A compline service will take place on Sat. 15th of June. The memorial service will be held at St. Martin-in-the Fields, 151 Glenlake Ave., Toronto, Ontario, M6P 1E8 at 4pm on Sat. June 15th. A gathering/reunion will be organised following the service for 6pm in Toronto at a hotel, but we will need an RSVP please so that we can make a reservation. I have done some inquiries and need to know the expected number of guests who will attend this in order to make a reservation. I will also get a discount for those people who would like to book accommodation for the evening.
On Sunday, June 16th, there will be an Open House at the Claremont Community Centre from 12 to 4pm. The former site of the the school will allow alumni to walk around the grounds, but as this is now a government building, it is not possible for people to enter the building.
We are hoping that many will be able to attend, any or all of the gatherings and would ask that people RSVP so that we may book for the hotel in Toronto. Please share this information with those people who you feel would like to attend, but may not be on Facebook or in any of the SJ groups. This is a public event and open to anyone wishing to attend.
