For years, the Alberta school (and sometimes the Manitoba school) ventured into northern Alberta and the Territories on various routes. One of the annual stops was at the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan – located on the southwest tip of Lake Athabasca. Here the community would host a wonderful feast for the brigades. The Anglican Church Women worked tirelessly to ensure the groups were well fed. Youngsters from the community would wait, watching from the shore of the lake, to spot the canoes and to race to the village to let them know the boys had arrived.
