Not everyone can pull off this “fashion statement”, but in the 1990’s the St. John’s tuxedo emerged as part of the winter program attire. During this time, the snowshoe season was experiencing warmer than normal temperatures. As a result, the students would get too warm while out on the training runs. So rather than strip down to their shorts, the boys left their long underwear on and wore shorts over top. I’m not sure who came up with the idea – but it sure caught on!
Do any of you still wear the “tuxedo” in the winter? What are your memories of this winter fashion? Send us your story!
