Three of our students from Mexico enjoyed the hospitality of their host family.

St. John’s attracted students from all over Canada and all over the world. Some, from Mexico, arrived for Gr. 7 at 12 years old, or from Japan at 15 years old, or Saudi Arabia at 14. All of them a  long way from home. During the shorter holiday times and weekends when there was no option to stay at the school, families would step up to host the boys. Or on a weekend honey sale in Calgary when the local parents had to host half the school population! Through the years we had some amazing host families – where our students, far from home, would become part of the host family. Some provided this home-away-from -home for years. Many still keep in touch today after all this time.

Do you remember your host family? Were you a host family? Send us your memories.
