For each outdoor trip at the school a log book was created. Sometimes a staff member would have the responsibility, but more often the job fell to a student volunteer. Depending on the person writing the log, it could be quite sophisticated and at times humorous.
An example from the 2000 Intermediate canoe trip: “Met up with a few bear, some of the grade nines thought it would be smart to see who could touch it, come to think of it, Habib was involved. But we paddled and paddled, paddled, paddled, paddled, got wet, tracked, got wet, and camped. The river is low and we are definitely going to get wet.”
Were you a “keeper” of the log book? For which trip? Send us your story.
